Thinking of changing our Olympe at the end of the season because the youngest son will be 18 next year and believes holidays with his mates would be more fun....can`t understand why !!!

Anyway that means our Olympe will be too big for just the two of us and therefore, we are seriously thinking of the Trigano Alpha GL.

Has anyone got one and what are they like please?

The alpha is a long unit and just fitted in the garage . For a 1 night stop you can put the trailer unit up and leave the awning down , also you can leave the awning roof on when you fold down , then the sides go on in 2 parts then fasten in zig .the kitchen is at a good working height . On newer models the awning poles are now easier to assemble and are coated to prevent staining of the canvas . Gas and water are cited in the front box if you have the kitchen , but still has room for lots more. The front extension for extra bedroom is a decent size , we used it as a toilet room . The unit also rides well on the road . Black Country caravans were keen to do deals . All in all a decently built unit with good canvas .

Wardley17,

Thanks for the info.

How do you find it for levelling on pitches with the design of the Alpha?

We are off to the NEC on October where we will have a good look.

I hope BCC are keen to deal when we buy one Drool

Usually just put some off cut marine ply bits where rack on lid didn't touch ground to take pressure off hinge on lid . Also put pipe insulation on roof rack edge to stop it marking . If you fit a 3 way cooler in kitchen , trailer needs to be level for it to work properly , plus you cannot run it while towing as lid of kitchen gets too hot . Terry

Terry,

Many thanks.

Some useful tips and advise.

Daft question, but if you had the choice between a CombiCamp and the Alpha GL which would you go for?

Looked at both and no zig available for combi and I thought less under bed space and thought kitchen not as solid although it has shelves on lid which alpha doesn't have . Combi prices are a bit on the steep side too and they are not into trading other makes in , Black Country gave me a great price for the camplet without looking at the unit all the deal was done over the phone . In my opinion the Alpha was of a heavier build quality . Terry

Terry,

Thanks again for the info. Agree with you abut the prices of the CombiCamps.

Please to hear that the Alpha is a better build quality. Also with more under bed storage space and ZIG.

The issue with no shelves on the kitchen lid isn`t an issue.

Won`t see the CombiCamp at the NEC as they aren`t there because they say the stand prices are too expensive.

Just back from the NEC where we have taken the plunge and bought a brand new Trigano Alpha GL from Black Country Caravans.

Got the deluxe sun canopy thrown in because we purchased at the show.

Now we just have to wait until spring next year when we can collect it and can`t wait.

Hope you enjoy it , it's handy just to be able to flip the lid for just an enroute stop and still have a nice little sitting area , and if you are a hardy soul whip up a quick meal outside . Did you get the rear annex and zig ? We are at the show on Friday I will go and ask Paul and Chris for my commission :-). Terry

Hi Wardley17,

Thanks for the comments.

We went for the whole kit.....side walls for the sun canopy, ZIG, rear annex and inner tent for the rear annex.

The canvas is good quality and the double bed is bigger than the one in the Olympe and we thought they are big.

The electric socket is the European type plus a 12v socket. BCC change these to 2 UK sockets, which is better.

Just got to wait now until it arrives so we can try it all out........can`t wait BigGrin

If Chris from BCC gives you any commision pass it on to me please LOL

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your comments.

It is a cracking TT and can`t wait to try it out, but that won`t be until spring next year as it should be with BCC early 2014.

Must say that the customer service from Black Country Caravans was excellent.

Between now and collecting the Alpha will have to sell the Olympe GL with bed kit to turn the central bed into a third double wooden slatted bed, very large front storage box, and a wheeled kitchen. Have someone who wanted first refusal so just waiting for them to confirm whether they are still interested otherwise it will be on here for sale.

Just noticed that the awning square metre coverage of the Alpha is slightly larger than the Olypme, which surprised me:

Olympe 13.25sq mtrs

Alpha 14.57sq mtrs

The time has finally arrived as tomorrow we go to Black Country Caravans to collect our new Trigano Alpha GL ThumpUp

Sad that the Olympe GL has gone as it was a fantastic family TT.

Picked up the Alpha GL today and what a great TT.

All I can say is if you want to buy a TT then Black Country Caravans is the place to go.

Absolutely fantastic service from the time we arrived to the time we drove away. A very good demonstration on how to erect the Alpha GL.

Nothing was too much trouble.

On Monday we will be putting all our camping gear inside the Alpha GL and I don`t think it will be long before we have a weekend away.

Exactly what we thought. When we were packing the camping gear into the Alpha yesterday gave us the opportunity to leave things out that have never been used, but just got a free holiday every time we went camping LOL

We decided that we will only buy things from here on in that we actually need and will use...............can`t see that working as I have always bought things on that basis and it obviously hasn`t worked LOL

Hope all goes well with the collection of your new kyte wind force and you get plenty of chances to go camping this year.
