While we put the tent away dry after a three week trip away, when we went back to use it three weeks later the cotton inner sleeping compartments enclosures were badly affected by black mould but not anywhere else on the canvas skin.

Does anyone have a fool proof way of getting rid of this other than buying new compartments?

I have been told to try white vinegar and then bleach before washing and sun drying but am slightly sceptical?

Thanks!

Hi Roycalder,
Have you had any success in getting rid of the mould? We've recently purchased a 2nd hand TT that has had mould issues in the past and the inner tents have mould stains on them.

Many Thanks.
Rob.

Hi,

After a bit of investigation we went for a relatively simple solution of soaking the inner tent compartments in a strong white vinegar solution and then rinsing them well before washing them at 60degC with Vanish. While this did not totally remove the marks they shodul be dead.
We dried them outside in the sun and this seems to have really made the marks fairly faint now.

Hope this helps.

Roy
